- Master Plans
Need feedback from C&M Railway about long-term master plans
regarding the Spring Lake Depot and other potential projects
suitable for the Historical Society to pursue.
- The floor was opened for discussion with
Jim Budzynski about Historical Museum projects and plans.
A). Museum had two main projects in process: (1) Interurban Restoration
& (2) Sawmill addition.
B). Jim reported the need to establish a millage that would support
the museum and maintain its viability after Lil & Jim retire.
C). Visitors are increasing due to the Marketing efforts of the
Discover Coopersville Project. Visitors were up by 1000 this
year to 3000. Joint cooperation of the City/Farm Museum/RR &
Historical Museum is the key.
D). Jim emphasized visitors want something to see and a reason
to stay in the community. Visibility of the rolling stock of
the RR is essential and stores/restaurants need to be open for
weekend (Sat. & Sunday) visitors.
E). Jim reported the Interurban car is not being restored to
running condition. It would need additional reinforcing of the
framework and a propulsion mechanism. There is another car that
is currently being used as a housing unit in New Richmond that
could possibly be restored if purchased, transported and restored.
