    • About

Established in 1989, The Coopersville & Marne Railway Company offers events aboard a historic, North American train. The train cars were built between 1919-1932. The main locomotive was built in 1952 by the General Motors Corp.. It is an ex-Grand Trunk RR, EMD SW-9, 1200 hp, diesel/electric. The secondary locomotive is a 1957 300 hp, diesel built by General Electric. Two of the passenger cars were used in the 1988 Hollywood movie, Buloxi Blues, starring Matthew Broderick. Photos of those cars were sent to Steven Speilberg's production company when they were making the movie: The Polar Express. Our 98-seat car is ex-CN and was used in Toronto, Canada as a commuter car. The dining car seats 48 at table and chairs. It is an ex-Wabash RR passenger car once used on the "Wabash Cannonball". Later, it was sold to the Illinois Central RR for use on the "City of New Orleans".
Themed events throughout the operating season are: The Bunny Train at Easter time, The Veteran's Free Memorial Day Troop Train, The Great Train Robbery in July, The Famous Pumpkin Train in the fall and The Santa Train in late November and in December. During the summer season from May - September, our EnterTRAINment Excursions depart every Wednesday and Saturday at 11:00 and/or 1:30.
